VISION
The SAISD Extended Day Program (EDP) vision is to ensure that students have the opportunity to participate in a safe and supportive after school environment that provides continued learning in core subjects, assists students with homework, offers enrichment academic and recreational activities, and introduces students to STEM/STEAM education.
The Extended Learning Department works in partnership with the City of San Antonio (COSA) and after school providers: YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and the Greater San Antonio All Stars to design, coordinate, implement, and monitor a rigorous program to increase academic achievement and grade level progress in order to ensure continued pathways to graduation and ensure all program goals are met.

EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM OBJECTIVES & SCHEDULE
The key program objectives are to provide students with structured opportunities to:
  • be in a safe and supportive after-school environment
  • obtain homework assistance in all subjects
  • enjoy nutritious snacks and meals
  • continue academic development in reading and mathematics
  • reinforce academic standards and meet or exceed local and state testing
  • enhance their social awareness through Social Emotional Learning lessons
  • introduce hands-on STEM/STEAM activities including coding
  • develop arts and crafts projects
  • participate in recreational activities​
